VISTA ABIERTA MIXED-USE HOUSING

The 300 Alton Road project is a mixed-use waterfront property that shelters social housing and contrarily a luxury complex on the same site. This peculiarity was addressed through equally contrasting massing utilizing a shorter social housing building that not only provided every apartment a floor to ceiling window wall but also allowed for a single-loaded double-heighted open-air corridor every two floors for social housing to be more communal. The luxury tower provided a 180 degree view to each double-storied condo and was metal-screened on the exterior to reduce heating loads and increase aesthetic value. The observation tower and amenities section was connected to the other building through short bridges, in an effort to ‘bridge the gap’ between the different social classes.
