LAUGIER BEACH SHELTER
SPRING 2016, professor ROCCO CEO, site-SOUTH BEACH, MIAMI, FLORIDA

HAND-CARVED WOOD MODEL, 8X8X8
The Laugier Beach Shelter is designed for the beaches of Miami, being a traditional primitive yet luxurious beach shelter inspired by Antoine Laugier’s idea of a shelter. The idea was reigned through means of a lengthy contemplative essay which included doodles, eventually represented as orthogonal drawings depicting formal construction. The decking joists were curved at the ends to allow for ease of portability in sand. The final model was entirely hand-done, including the sanded entasis of the columns.
