The Bimini Meditation retreat is a single person vacation home in the Bahamas looking out into the sea. The plan derives from the Buddhist symbol, Unalome, that represents one’s journey towards enlightenment, and the plan takes its shape such that there exist three unique experiences linked to each other. As one enters the site and goes up the pure circular courtyard, and circumambulates through the house after having performed the mundane tasks of life, one walks through the suspended walkways in the trees and heavy foliage while contemplating about life. The existing barge on the beach has been integrated into this journey’s third leg, where the views of the ocean come alive and one walks down straight to the yoga and meditation pavilion at the end of the journey thus looking at the sunset. This pavilion also ties back to the point of enlightenment from the Unalome symbol.
