vision of a drawing
The Ferry Tower project was a culmination of design, social, cultural and political commentary and an eventual hand-drawn representation of the path from Cuba to Miami. The idea that the early immigrants arrived on wooden boats and the consecutive equivalence of Miami with hope, freedom and the American Dream, was the inspiration that led to a studio charette resulting in ten unique futuristic towers that could be placed on the path in an imaginary world guiding the people to a safer destination, represented by the renowned Freedom Tower of Miami. The waves and rays document important Spanish terminology related to the history of this era. Although the towers were designed in a team, this particular drawing is an individual creation.
